about

At the beginning of the 20th century The Modern was rebuilding the world by re-combining simple geometries into new music, architecture, or ways of living. Perturbations of tones, geometries, circles, squares, triangles. But suddenly I was thrilled by a vision of the enthusiasm and hope this idea incorporates, inspired by a wooden desktop of that time. Picking up a Gibson L-3 guitar built in 1924 improvising pieces in this vision within a few days this ablum came into life. Still it took about two years to struggle with mixing the pieces using contemporary studio effects. The REbuilding of musical GEOMetries reflects a city person living in a very small country peasant village. The fiber-glass internet connection mixes with cow and bird sounds. Living right at the former border of West and East Germany fuses histories, ideas, and ways of living. After programming new effects, a swim in the nearby lake eases bits and bytes. The mixes therefore also reflect rebuilding a world from these geometries, nature and nurture, stories and histories, digitals and analogs.

Some improvisations are ambient, some are narratives. The first pieces comes in like an alap, the introduction of a tune of modal music like in Indian or the maquam music traditions. Such an introduction is also meant to first introduce the elements, the notes, of an upcoming improvisation recombining them. Some pieces are minimal, like the second one, some are noise like the third. Narratives of broken histories appear in the 7th and 8th improvisation. Ideas combine in a way beyond The Modern and beyond post-modern times. RE GEOM therefore is sound rearranging the old into a new, like it always happened.
